1) The class discussions really worked well with this book because we went through confusing parts in the book. It really helped clearing up any questions I had about the book. I like going over the motifs if I missed them which i found very useful throughout the unit.
2) This book was very lengthy which didnt really work for me, especially during a sport. Understanding this book was also difficult, but the class discussions really was effective and useful for me.
3) I think that Jane Eyre should be taught in College literature because it really gives you a college level reading. Also, reading and annotating could really help you in the future with this book, especially with all the plot changes and motifs Jane Eyre had.
4) At first the book was pretty uneventful, but as the reading went on there was a lot more happening in the book. There were more characters and "action" added to the book as well. The ending really caught me by surprise too.

Victorian Era
In class, with a partner, we had to come up with a powerpoint about women in the Victorian Era compared to women in the modern day. We we had to do this task, I learned a lot on how much we have changed over the years. Women pretty much had set jobs back in the Victorian Era like being a teacher or a governess. They also had to stay home and looked after the children as well. Now, women can do whatever they desire. They don't have to be a stay at home mom and cook and clean. Women back in the Victorian Era wore very elegant dresses and were covered up pretty well, and now women can wear what they please no matter how much skin they expose. Pretty much everything has changed in a women's view from the Victorian Era to now.
Since many of the girls think that our (the guys) powerpoints were sexist, I would like to see this same type of task but with Victorian Era men and how they have changed from then until now.

Movie Setting
I think that a great movie setting would be Saving Private Ryan. This movie is based on the invasion of Normandy during World War II. Right away in the movie is a very intense, gory scene where there is an assult on the Omaha Beach. This movie's setting shows what war was really like. The true emotions of the soldiers come out in the setting. I think that this is very unique because many people don't know what they had to go through. Especially when one group of men have to fight there way to save one man, Private Ryan. The director also got many social issues across with this movie. Since it's based on war, many people have different views about it. This movie is very different because it was said that if you watched it, you could become depressed. Saving Private Ryan is a great movie with a very unique setting. It is action-filled from the start to the ending.
What do you think about this movie and its setting? Do you think that you could potentially become depressed from watching it?
