In class, with a partner, we had to come up with a powerpoint about women in the Victorian Era compared to women in the modern day. We we had to do this task, I learned a lot on how much we have changed over the years. Women pretty much had set jobs back in the Victorian Era like being a teacher or a governess. They also had to stay home and looked after the children as well. Now, women can do whatever they desire. They don't have to be a stay at home mom and cook and clean. Women back in the Victorian Era wore very elegant dresses and were covered up pretty well, and now women can wear what they please no matter how much skin they expose. Pretty much everything has changed in a women's view from the Victorian Era to now.
Since many of the girls think that our (the guys) powerpoints were sexist, I would like to see this same type of task but with Victorian Era men and how they have changed from then until now.
I would also like to see a power point on Victorian era men vs. modern day men to see what the girls think, but it wouldn't be the same because women have come such a long way from what it was like in the Victorian era for them. Considering they used to only be able to get jobs like teachers or work around the house to now being able to get any job they want it has changed dramatically for them.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Connor, there wouldn't be as big of a change when comparing the men from the victorian era to the men present day. The women have changed a lot since then, but if the girls made a power point on the Victorian era men vs. moder day men, I think it would turn out just as sexist as the guys had done; mainly because most of it was true.
